The Berkeley Potters Guild, founded in 1971, is northern California’s oldest and largest collective of professional ceramic artists. Most members are production potters who create a wide variety of functional items. Others create one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces. Some work in traditional colors and forms influenced by an Asian aesthetic, while a few of our members make playful forms and decorate with intricate and colorful hand painted designs. The work reflects the broad spectrum of California contemporary ceramics.
The Berkeley Potters Guild Gift Gallery provides an opportunity for the public to see and purchase members’ work throughout the year.
A COMMUNITY ART SPACE located in Berkeley, California. Brushstrokes was founded in 1995 by the ceramic artists Nancy Selvin and Kevin Nierman. Our mission is to create an atmosphere that is beautiful, inspiring, relaxing, and hospitable where visitors can express their creativity. Our aim is to be a positive part of our wider east bay community by being involved in schools and other civic organizations and by being a drop-in storefront space where the community, friends, and families can connect through the process of making art.
